Content closer to the visitor
A Content Delivery Network stores copies of cacheable content across multiple geographic locations. When a visitor requests an image, stylesheet or other static asset, it can often be delivered from a node closer to that visitor.
This reduces latency and removes some workload from the origin server. A well-designed CDN can also add resilience during traffic spikes or certain network problems. It does not replace hosting, but complements the origin infrastructure by distributing content delivery more efficiently.
